AAFCS created the Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Alliance in 2006 in response to recommendations from the AAFCS Future Search Summit. AAFCS leaders invited FCS organizations that addressed the integrative nature of family and consumer sciences to join the Alliance.
In 2015, the FCS Alliance adopted a new mission, which is to unify diverse organizations in common purpose by implementing a Next Generation Model. This model enhances the visibility and viability of family and consumer sciences to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities in a diverse and global society. The goal of the Family & Consumer Sciences Alliance: The Next Generation is to advance family and consumer sciences through advocacy.
