Family & Consumer Sciences Day

FCS Day LogoStarted in 2014, this national initiative, led by the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), educates families about the importance and benefits of preparing and eating healthy meals together. Families are asked to commit to "dine in" on December 3rd, the birthday of AAFCS founder Ellen Richards.

"Say Yes to FCS" Educator Recruitment Initiative

Say Yes to FCS LogoThe "Say Yes to FCS: Filling the FCS Educator Pipeline" campaign, led by AAFCS, is designed to support and advance existing family and consumer sciences educator recruitment initiatives and provide models and assistance for new efforts. The campaign established National Family & Consumer Sciences Educator Day on May 4.

Issue Briefs - Series of issue briefs focused on important societal issues impacting family and consumer sciences, produced by the National Coalition for Family and Consumer Sciences Education

National Outreach Project - Each year Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc (FCCLA) establishes a National Outreach Project with a partner organization to reach to the community and help work towards a cause. National Executive Council (NEC) members and other FCCLA staff members discuss and present ways FCCLA and another organization can work together on a National Outreach Project.

Healthy Food Systems, Healthy People - The APLU Board on Agriculture Assembly (BAA) and Board on Human Sciences (BoHS) joined together to develop a broad-based programmatic initiative linking research, Extension, and academic programs that focus on integrating nutrition, health, environment, and agricultural systems.
