Recalling Our Calling DVD Set
At the American Association of Family & Consumer (AAFCS) 2009 Centennial Celebration in Knoxville, TN, many of AAFCS’ longest-serving members gathered to recognize the remarkable first 100 years of the Association, and to help launch a second century of progress.  Forty-one of these leaders agreed to participate in a unique gathering of oral histories from their professional lives.  They chose to discuss their calling to family and consumer sciences (FCS) through topics of special importance to them.  Their comments provide insights into remarkable individual and group events that have helped shape the FCS profession.

FCS Rap Song CD

In 2009, AAFCS celebrated 100 years of the Association's distinguished history and discussed how AAFCS could help individuals, families, and communities shape their futures. As a part of this celebration, the Family and Consumer Sciences units at Tennessee universities and colleges worked with their students to plan and present a program that would focus on the future while acknowledging our important heritage. One result of the student's collaboration was the development of the Family And Consumer Sciences (FACS) Rap, an original work recorded for the Centennial Celebration which was written by Michele Meehan and arranged and performed by Jonathan Sexton.
