About the Session

A new style guide based on observational research shows significant improvement in food safety behavior in home kitchens when recipes contain food safety instructions written into the recipe text. During this webinar you will learn about the research behind Safe Recipe Style Guide developed by the non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education and easy steps for using the guide in your food and nutrition work in the year ahead. .  

 Objectives:

  • Understand the research and data that inspired development of the Safe Recipe Style Guide.
  • Learn the specific wording in the Safe Recipe Style Guide.
  • Learn how to use the Safe Recipe Style Guide.
  • Understand plans for the Partnership for Food Safety Education's professional outreach, and the role they can play in promoting the Safe Recipe Style Guide and encouraging others to use it.

About the Presenter(s)

Shelley Feist is Executive Director of the non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education.  At the Partnership she has focused on delivery of evidence-based food safety information to consumers, on developing networks of health and food safety educators and on organizational development and effectiveness.  She was instrumental in development of the Safe Recipe Style Guide and is chief spokesperson on behalf of the Partnership.

 Katie Weston is Community Engagement Manager of the non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education. She represents the Partnership to the health and food safety educator community and develops outreach and engagement strategies. She is an avid amateur baker and especially enjoys making cupcakes while, of course, practicing safe food handling!
