*ALL presenters, including poster presenters and participants in the Apparel, Textiles, and Design Juried Showcase and Curriculum Showcase, must purchase a full or one-day registration and do not qualify for the Expo or Family/Guest registrations.




Cancellation and Refund Policy

Refund requests must be made in writing by email to annualconf@aafcs.org (preferred); by mail to AAFCS, Attn: Annual Conference, 400 N. Columbus St., Ste. 202, Alexandria, VA 22314; or by fax to 703-706-4663. With limited exceptions, due to medical or family emergencies, only refund requests emailed, postmarked, or faxed by May 31st, 2018 will be considered.  Approved Refunds will be processed following the Annual Conference. A cancellation fee of 20% of your total conference purchases (registration plus ticketed events and additional purchases) will be assessed for refund requests emailed, postmarked, or faxed through April 16th, 2018. A cancellation fee of 30% of your total conference purchases (registration plus ticketed events plus additional purchases) will be assessed for refund requests postmarked or faxed from April 17th-May 31st, 2018. In the case of a medical or family emergency, official documentation will be required prior to refund approval. 

Ways to Save

The best way to save is to register before the Early Bird deadline! You'll save up to $210 off the online rate--and  you have until April 16th! 

If you are not a member, you may purchase a first-year membership for just $100 along with your registration--a savings of $10 off the nonmember rate! 

Students: we have a deal for you! 

If 6 or more students register from your university, you will receive $20 per person off your registration costs! This deal is available ONLY until April 16th. To take advantage of this offer, all students must register. Then, one representative should contact Sara Tantillo at annualconf@aafcs.org to have the discount applied. 

Payment Policy

IF YOU ARE PAYING BY PURCHASE ORDER: 

To pay by Purchase Order, please select "pay by check" when checking out.  You do NOT have to enter a PO number. An invoice will be automatically generated, and you can access it by going into your account at "MyAAFCS" on the AAFCS website and clicking on "Pay Open Invoices." This will allow you to save and/or print the invoice to pass along to your employer. AAFCS will not automatically generate or send any other invoice--please contact us at annualconf@aafcs.org with any questions or special requests. 

PLEASE NOTE: By May 31st, 2018, AAFCS must receive full payment for all outstanding annual conference registration purchase orders, or registrants intending to pay by purchase order must pay a deposit of $100 PLUS the price of all ticketed events and additional purchases. Registration and all purchases will be cancelled if AAFCS does not receive either the PO payment or this deposit by May 31st. There will be refunds for individual deposits made in place of PO payment once AAFCS receives full PO payment under this policy. There will be no exceptions. 

IF YOU ARE PAYING BY CHECK: 

To pay by personal check, please select "pay by check" when checking out. If we do not receive payment in full postmarked within 30 days of registration or postmarked by the applicable registration deadline if it is more than 30 days post-registration dateyou will be responsible for paying the registration rate in effect when payment occurs. For example, if you register at the Early Bird rate and we do not receive payment by the Early Bird deadline or within 30 days of your registration, you will be responsible for paying the higher Advance Registration Rate. If we do not receive full payment for the total amount due (including any fees incurred by missing a registration deadline) by May 31st, your conference registration and all purchases will be considered null and void.

If you are paying by credit card, please select "pay by credit card" and follow the on-screen prompts.

To register,  click here and sign into your MyAAFCS account! If you do not remember your username and password, or think you do not have an account, PLEASE use the "recover Username/Password" link. If you have ever purchased anything from AAFCS, even if you are not a member, you have an account.

How to Edit Your Registration or Add Tickets

If you need to change your registration type, remove tickets from your record, or add additional tickets to an event for which you've also purchased tickets, this cannot be done online. Please contact Sara Tantillo at annualconf@aafcs.org or 703-706-4612.

If you want to add tickets to an event you've not yet purchased tickets for, or add a Family/Guest registration, please follow the instructions below. You may also get in touch with Sara at annualconf@aafcs.org or 703-706-4612 for help. 

1. Log into MyAAFCS using your existing username and password. If you forget your password, please use the "Forgot Password" link to recover your password, do NOT create a new account.

2. Click on "Register for or Edit an Event, Exam, or Webinar". 

3. Toward the top of the page, click on the blue botton that says "Registered Events."

4. A list of the events you've registered for will appear! Click on "109th Annual Conference & Expo."

5. A listing of everything you've purchased will appear. Click on the small blue link that says "Adjust this Registration" to add tickets to your record. You CANNOT add a ticket to a meal or excursion for which you've already purchased tickets. To add an additional ticket, email us at annualconf@aafcs.org.

6. This will bring you to a page that lists all potential purchases. Hit "add" next to any tickets you would like to purchase, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select "View Shopping Cart."

7. Hit the checkout button, select your payment type, and make sure to fully finalize your additions!

Photo Policy

By registering for the AAFCS Annual Conference, attendees hereby agree to allow AAFCS to use any photos taken of them during the conference in news media, social media, website, publications, articles, marketing pieces, etc.

Audio Visual Information

This year, all presenters will be provided with an LCD Projector if it is requested. AAFCS does not provide laptop computers or any other AV equipment other than a screen, cart, and microphone if deemed necessary. You will be able to rent other equipment from the AV company with which AAFCS is contracting. The AV form will be posted in the spring--please make sure to check back!

Exercise Waiver

In order to attend the 109th Annual Conference & Expo, you must agree to the waiver below when you register. There will be a waiver release question on the first page of the registration form

I acknowledge that I may participate in one or more of the fitness events that the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) will hold at the AAFCS Annual Conference & Expo from June 24th-27th in Atlanta, Georgia.

I acknowledge and agree that my participation in these events is of my own free will. I agree that I assume all risks associated with my participation in this activity. 
I recognize that these events may involve physical activity. I hereby affirm that I am in good physical condition and do not suffer from any known disability or condition which would prevent or limit my participation in this event. Alternatively, I agree not to participate in these activities if I am not in good health or cannot safely participate.

As lawful consideration for my being allowed to participate in this activity, I agree to release, indemnify, protect and hold harmless AAFCS, and AAFCS’s officers, directors, trustees, agents, and employees from any and all losses, damages, claims, demands, causes of action, judgments, or liabilities whatsoever (including, but not limited to, all damages related to any personal injury, property damage, court costs, and attorneys’ fees) resulting from or related in any way to my participation in this activity.

I hereby release, waive, and forever discharge AAFCS, and AAFCS’s officers, directors, trustees, agents, and employees from any and all claims, causes of action or liabilities, of any nature whatsoever, which result from any personal injuries, property damages, or other liabilities sustained arising from my participation in this activity.

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE FORM AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS.  I AM AWARE THAT THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE FORM CONTAINS A RELEASE FROM LIABILITY AND I HAVE AGREED TO IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.

This waiver applies to any additional registrants added to the primary registration as a family member or guest.

Harassment Policy

AAFCS has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for harassment of any kind. If a person engages in harassing behavior, AAFCS staff will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including expulsion from the AAFCS Annual Conference & Expo with no refund. Our policy applies to EVERYONE at the conference. Exhibitors, attendees, speakers, guests, professionals, press, staff, volunteers, and security are all subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action.
