Registration Includes

Full access to all meetings and sessions including general sessions, exhibits and events at the Hub, poster sessions, ATD Showcase, Educational Experiences, refreshment breaks (daily General Sessions and at the Hub), physical conference materials. Ticketed Educational Experiences and other events such as the Welcome Reception and other Meal Functions have additional costs. All registrants will have access to the conference library in MyAAFCS through December 31, 2023.

Who Should Register?

The 2023 Annual Conference is OPEN TO ALL. AAFCS members and non-members and anyone with an interest in people-centered sciences are welcome to attend and participate in the conference. This includes professionals and students in education and training, food science and nutrition, health management and wellness, housing and interior design, human/child development and family relations, personal and family finance, textiles, apparel and retailing and culinary arts, hospitality and tourism. 

EXHIBITOR REGISTRATIONS: As of March 17, the exhibit space reservation process is open! The exhibitor registration link will be provided with the invoice.

We accept check, credit card, and purchase order (PO). If you are paying separately from your registration at a later date, please select Pay By Check and follow the prompts. Unpaid conference fees must be paid before attending future AAFCS events/conferences. Please review all registration deadlines listed on this webpage. - PAYING BY CHECK? 
Log in to your MyAAFCS account to register. Upon check out, click on Pay By Check. Your invoice will be generated. To access it at any time when you are logged in to your MyAAFCS account, click on Pay Open Invoices. AAFCS will not automatically generate or send any other invoice. Payment must be received by June 15th, your conference registration and all purchases will be cancelled. Cancellation fees will still be due to AAFCS if AAFCS must cancel for non-payment.

Log in to your MyAAFCS account to register. Upon check out, click on Pay By Credit Card and follow the on-screen prompts. Payments must be paid in full by June 15th

- PAY INVOICE ONLINE/ SOMEONE'S INVOICE USING EZ PAY WITHOUT LOGGING IN TO MYAAFCS?
You can pay your own invoice or your colleague's invoice without logging in to MyAAFCS. Click here to pay using the EZ Pay link (you will need the Invoice Number and Customer ID from your confirmation email). Payments must be paid in full by June 15th

- PAYING BY PURCHASE ORDER?
Log in to your MyAAFCS account to register. Upon check out, click on Pay By Check (even if you do not have a Purchase Order #). Your invoice will be generated and located under Pay Open Invoices -- you can provide this to the school/person paying your registration. To access it at any time when you are logged in to your MyAAFCS account, click on Pay Open Invoices. Payments must be paid in full by June 15th.

Cancellation Policy and Refund

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations must be received by annualconf@aafcs.org by May 19, 2023 to receive a conference registration refund (less cancellation fee per registration) set forth on this chart. Even if you have not paid, the cancellation fee will still be owed to AAFCS. Phone call cancellation requests are not accepted.

After May 19th, there are no refunds, but you can transfer your registration to another attendee at no charge. All refunds will be processed after June 30, 2023.

REMINDER: If you booked a guestroom at the conference hotel, you will need to cancel directly with the hotel according to their instructions in the reservation email you received.

Add Meal Function Tickets to Your Registration

If you need to change your registration type, remove tickets or Educational Experiences from your record, or add additional tickets to an event for which you've also purchased tickets, this cannot be done online. Please annualconf@aafcs.org should have questions or need assistance.

If you want to add tickets to an event you've not yet purchased tickets for, please follow these steps and click on the link to begin.

1. You will need to log into MyAAFCS using your existing username and password. If you forget your password, please use the "Forgot Password" link to recover your password, please do NOT create a new account.

2. At the main menu, click on "Register for or Edit an Event, Exam, or Webinar". 

3. Toward the top of the page, click on the blue button that says "Registered Events."

4. A list of the events you've registered for will appear! Click on "114th Annual Conference."

5. A listing of everything you've purchased will appear. Click on the small blue link that says "Adjust this Registration" to add tickets to your record. You CANNOT add a ticket to a meal or excursion for which you've already purchased tickets. To add an additional ticket, email us at annualconf@aafcs.org.

6. This will bring you to a page that lists all potential purchases. Hit "add" next to any tickets you would like to purchase, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select "View Shopping Cart."

7. Hit the checkout button, select your payment type, and make sure to fully finalize your additions!

Please feel free to contact annualconf@aafcs.org with any questions; to add additional tickets to events for which you've already purchased tickets; or to remove or exchange tickets (may be subject to a fee).

Covid Policy

The AAFCS staff are committed to providing a safe and healthy conference atmosphere for our in-person attendees in partnership with the hotel. The latest safety guidelines and protocols will be followed on property. Although Covid is no longer a global health emergency, Baltimore and the hotel are committed to industry-leading cleaning and hygiene practices.

Hold Harmless Participation:
By registering for this event, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present, even with health and safety measures in place. By attending the event, you voluntarily assume all risks related to your attendance and participation in the event, including exposure to COVID-19, and agree to release and hold harmless AAFCS and its members, conference attendees, staff, and vendors from any and all claims, demands, and causes of action arising out of or relating to your attendance or participation in the event, including but not limited to release from any liability related to any illness, injury, or death resulting from your attendance at the event. You further agree that, by registering, if the event is canceled or postponed, AAFCS is not liable for any hotel and/or travel expenses that you may have incurred in connection with the event.

Photo Policy

By registering for the Conference, you consent that photos of you or in which you appear may be taken by AAFCS staff, vendors or photographer(s) during the conference. These photos may be used in our promotional materials, reports, or publications (I.E. websites,  e-newsletters) and shared on social media.

Harassment Code of Conduct

AAFCS promotes and lives up to our Diversity & Inclusion Statement: The AAFCS celebrates, embraces, and respects the value of every person. We denounce all expressions of hate, racism, injustice, and discrimination. Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice is demonstrated through our work to improve the well-being and quality of life for individuals, families, and communities.

With that said, the Harassment Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in the AAFCS Annual Conference, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

We expect all participants in the AAFCS Annual Conference to create a safe and positive experience for everyone.

“Participant” in this policy refers to anyone present at the AAFCS Annual Conference, including staff, contractors, vendors, exhibitors, hotel and AV staff, speakers, AAFCS leadership, and all attendees.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior from any participant at the AAFCS Annual Conference will not be tolerated.

If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, AAFCS may take any action they deem appropriate, including removal from the AAFCS Annual Conference (without refund) at which the harassment occurred. Egregious violations will result in more severe sanctions.

If You Are Subject to or Witness Unacceptable Behavior

If you are being harassed, notice someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the AAFCS staff immediately in person. Staff can be found at the registration desk, or wearing STAFF ribbons. You may also contact Sandra Andrade, Associate Director, Conferences & Communications, by email at sandrade@aafcs.org, or through the conference app.

ALL reports are confidential.

If possible, provide the following information, preferably in writing:

  • Identifying information (name, appearance, role) of the participant who has committed an offense
  • The approximate time of the behavior
  • The circumstances surrounding the incident
  • Other people involved in or witnessing the incident

If needed or requested, staff will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the AAFCS Conference. No one will be contacted without the permission of the person who was harassed/assaulted. If requested, staff will provide a full refund (minus ticketed events already attended) to anyone who has been harassed or assaulted so that they may process the event in their own space.
