The records of the American Association of Family & Consumer
Sciences are held by Cornell University Library's Division
of Rare and Manuscript Collections in Kroch Library. The records
date from 1899 to the present and document the activities
of the Association.
Located on the 2B level of the Carl A. Kroch Library on the
central Cornell campus, the Division of Rare and Manuscript
Collections is open to the public—to students, faculty,
visiting researchers and members of the community. No appointments
are required, but out-of-town researchers interested in using
the collection will want to call in advance, as some portions
of the collection are housed off-site and take one business
day to arrive. Please note that you will need to present photo
identification upon your first visit to the Division. Please

Home Economics Archive: Research, Tradition, History

Hosted by Cornell University's Mann Library, this site is
a core electronic collection of books and journals in home
economics and related disciplines beginning in 1850. The titles
and full text of these materials are available, as well as,
bibliographies and essays on the wide array of subjects relating
to home economics. This site offers the Journal of Home
Economics / Journal of Family & Consumer Sciences
from 1909-1980 online. This information is free and directly
accessible from your home computer.
Human Ecology Historical Photographs

This website provides a database of selected images and information
from the records of the New York State College of Home Economics
at Cornell University. The photographs are organized by general
subjects: Resident Teaching; International, National, State,
and Local Public Relations; All-College Activities; Administration
and Personnel; Departments and Divisions; Buildings and Equipment;
History of the College; and Miscellaneous. Within any particular
general subject category, there are more specific topics,
e.g. “Resident Teaching” includes “Students
and Student Life,” “Homemaking Apartments,”
and "Apartment Babies.” Descriptive information
is provided for each image. Additional photographs may be
found in this collection and in other holdings of the Division
of Rare and Manuscript Collections.
Core Historical Literature of Agriculture

Hosted by Cornell University's Mann Library, the Core Historical
Literature of Agriculture (CHLA) is a core electronic collection
of agricultural texts published between the early nineteenth
century and the middle to late twentieth century. Full-text
materials cover agricultural economics, agricultural engineering,
animal science, crops and their protection, food science,
forestry, human nutrition, rural sociology, and soil science.
Scholars have selected the titles in this collection for their
historical importance. Their evaluations and 4,500 core titles
are detailed in the seven volume series The Literature of
the Agricultural Sciences, Wallace C. Olsen, series editor.

The Cornell Costume and Textile Collection

The department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design, (FSAD)
maintains the Cornell Costume and Textile Collection, which
includes more than 9,000 items of apparel dating from the
eighteenth century to the present, as well as a substantial
collection of ethnographic textiles and costume. The collection
