The Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal is an official publication of the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). It was redesigned in 2004 to provide more opportunities for research, theory and philosophy of FCS to assist FCS professionals and FCS units with a variety of specializations.

Each issue of the FCSRJ contains the following professional and exclusive features:

  • scholarly peer-reviewed articles,
  • connection of specialized research to other specializations
  • debate/discussion of issues of the profession (coming)
  • connection of research articles to the university classroom (coming)
  • theme issues to provide focused reading for college courses and research projects (periodically)

FCSRJ is now available in both print and online formats through SAGE Publications, Inc. It includes primary research, emphasizes interdisciplinary connections across the specializations, and addresses issues and developments in the field. FCSRJ features knowledge gained from the research and academic arenas and focuses on how this knowledge can be applied by practitioners in the field.

AAFCS members can subscribe for $30 per year. The cost to an individual nonmember is $129.00 and to an institutional nonmember is $469.00.
