Sciences
The Journal of Family & Consumer Sciences is
the official publication of the American Association of Family & Consumer
Sciences (AAFCS). The Journal was redesigned and repositioned
in 2002 to be more magazine-like and more practical. It contains
peer-reviewed articles, along with a Practice section and
a Strategy section that translates the theory into action.
The Journal, which now includes an engaging 4-color
cover, is published four times a year: January, April,
September, and November.

bleeds extending a minimum of 1/8" on all sides

this size). If boxed rule around the outside, ad size
should be 7.75 x 10.375.
Inserts
The Journal of Family & Consumer Sciences is
shrink-wrapped and inserts for the polybag may be accepted.
Card inserts and blow-ins also may be accepted. Please contact

Classified Rates
$2.00 per word, per insertion. $250 minimum.

AAFCS Advertising Policy
and Terms
Copy and Contract Requirements
Advertisements must be in good taste and in harmony with
professional publishing principles in the opinion of the
publisher and AAFCS. The publisher and AAFCS reserve the
right to reject any materials and to add the word “advertisement” to
the copy.
Advertiser Responsibility
Advertisements are accepted upon the representation that
the advertiser and its agency have the rights to publish
the contents thereof. In consideration of such publication,
the advertiser and its agency agree to indemnify and hold
the publisher harmless against any expense or loss by reason
of any claims arising out of the publication. At no time
will the publisher be responsible for any more than the
price of the ad itself.
Discounts and Commissions
Only recognized agencies earn 15% discount from gross billing.
No cash discounts. Production charges and classified ads
are non-commissionable. Accounts are payable upon receipt
of invoice.
Insurance/Closings/Cancellations
Cancellations will not be accepted after closing date. Cover
positions cannot be cancelled. Cancellations after closing
date are responsible for full payment.
