Family Meals Made Easy: Implementing Freezer & Monthly Take-Home Meal Programs (1 PDU)

Presenter: Janet Holden, CFCS, Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher, Southeast High School, Cherokee, KS

About the Session: Research has shown that the whole family benefits from family mealtime by having better nutrition, improving family communication, fostering family traditions, and teaching life skills, such as meal planning, budgeting, and food preparation. Encouraging families to prepare simple, healthy meals and eat together supports the essence of family and consumer sciences: “Creating Healthy and Sustainable Families.” Since beginning her teaching career, Janet has implemented a community program to provide affordable homemade meals to families. This webinar will focus on two methods of "Freezer Meal Classes" and "Take Home Meals" - both programs are easily implemented in a classroom or community/extension setting! During the webinar, she will share tips for success and identify collaborative partners that have helped promote easy family meals.
