8:30am-4:30pm Pre-Conference Workshop: Preparing an Accreditation Self-Study Report, PDUs TBD (No cost--a Full or One-Day Registration must be purchased to attend)The Self-Study Report is the single most important document a Unit presents to the Council for Accreditation for determining a Unit's readiness for a Site Visit. This hands-on workshop provides tips for preparing a report; handouts and examples from Unit's having successfully experienced the process; and sample program assessment ideas. A "fair" finds Units that have successfully gone through the process sharing their experience and providing insight and wisdom.

More information coming soon. 7:00pm-8:00pm First-Time Attendee and New Member OrientationIn this session, new AAFCS members and first-time attendees will learn how to navigate the conference program and get the most out of attending a national conference designed for students and professionals in FCS. Attendees will be able to maximize their engagement within AAFCS and connect with other professionals in the organization. Enjoy an exceptional evening celebrating Syrian Cuisine and learning about the Syrian refugees who have settled in the St. Louis area. Mawda Altayan will prepare a variety of Syrian dishes. Mawda’s catering business, DamascusFoodSTL, started from her involvement with Welcome Neighbors STL and their Supper Club events. She will talk about her family’s experiences settling in St. Louis and how she got started in business. Jessica Beuler, from Welcome Neighbors STL will discuss their Supper Clubs and how they support refugees in the St. Louis area. The event will be held at the Hampton Inn St. Louis Downtown, 333 Washington Ave., a short 4 blocks from the Hyatt. This yearly event provides an uplifting experience for our hardworking members who appreciate the opportunity to donate accessories they no longer use in exchange for "new" items. This also provides the inspiration and motivation for our affiliates to conduct similar event and also helps to reinvent resourcefulness. Bring your lightly used accessories to the Welcome Reception or Opening General Session and trade them in for a chance to "buy" a new-to-you piece Monday evening! Come, have fun and shop til you drop!

Join us for a light continental breakfast from 8:00am-9:30am, (included in Full, Tuesday-Only, Family/Guest, and Expo-Only registrations), enjoy the Showcase Your Work Event from 9:00am-11:00am--including the Apparel, Textiles and Design Juried Showcase, and the Community of Elementary, Secondary, and Adult Education Curriculum Showcase & Silent Auction, join in and help the community with the Student Unit Service Project (more info coming soon!) and visit the exhibitors you missed Monday night! Similar to previous conferences' "Putting Research into Practice," i3 is a fast-paced session designed to share high impact ideas, outreach efforts, innovative programs and strategies, and/or creative collaborations focused on education, research, mentoring, and entrepreneurship. Get ready to be inspired by your Family and Consumer Sciences colleagues!
i3 presentations will be presented for 25 minutes at a round table, while others present at the same time. Share your research and knowledge with other attendees in a low-pressure environment, conducive to discussion! Click here for more info and to submit your proposal! The deadline is April 1st.
