Friday, June 26th
8:30am-4:00pm Pre-Conference Workshop: Preparing an Accreditation Self-Study Report, PDUs TBD (No cost—a Full or One-Day Registration must be purchased to attend)The Self-Study Report is the single most important document a Unit presents to the Council for Accreditation for determining a Unit's readiness for a Site Visit. This hands-on workshop provides tips for preparing a report; handouts and examples from Unit's having successfully experienced the process; and sample program assessment ideas. A "fair" finds Units that have successfully gone through the process sharing their experience and providing insight and wisdom.
9:00am-12:30pm AAFCS Professional Testing--Certification Exams
Ready to become certified with AAFCS? Test at conference at a discounted rate! Testing will be offered for the CFCS, CFCS-HDFS, CFCS-HNFS, CPFFE, and new CNWE certifications. Register for an exam with your conference registration! Learn more about AAFCS Professional Certification here

Die-cutting machines are revolutionizing project-based learning and offering exciting ways to integrate 21st Century STEAM skills into the FCS classroom. In this "make and take" pre-conference workshop, participants will develop new skills and strategies for integrating technology and design principles into their existing programs with popular die-cutting machines. Participants should bring a Windows or Mac laptop to this Make-and-Take session. 4:00pm-4:30pm First-Time Attendee Orientation

We will show you how to use the Safe Recipe Style Guide to build basic food safety prompts into your recipes. The inclusion of safe handling instructions in recipes is shown in published research to result in significant improvement in consumer compliance with hand washing and use of food thermometers. Ignite 2020! (formerly known as i3) is a energetic and fast-paced session that promises to inspire you to try something new. Experts will share high impact ideas, successful strategies for outreach efforts, engaging programs and strategies, and/or creative collaborations focused on education, research, mentoring, and entrepreneurship. Get ready to be inspired by your Family and Consumer Sciences colleagues!
Ignite 2020! presentations will be presented for 20 minutes at a round table, while others present at the same time. Share your research and knowledge with other attendees in a low-pressure environment, conducive to discussion! Click here to log into your MyAAFCS account and submit your proposal! This yearly event provides an uplifting experience for our hardworking members who appreciate the opportunity to donate accessories they no longer use in exchange for "new" items. This also provides the inspiration and motivation for our affiliates to conduct similar event and also helps to reinvent resourcefulness. Bring your lightly used accessories to the Welcome Reception or Opening General Session and trade them in for a chance to "buy" a new-to-you piece Sunday afternoon. Come, have fun and shop til you drop!
