Wellness Wednesday: Students Inspire Gifts for Habitat for Humanity
Year Three of the FCSfit Signature Initiative is themed "Emotional Health & Relationship Well-being" and kicked off in Atlanta at the 109th Annual Conference & Expo. Having a secure place to call home can play a huge factor in one's sense of well-being, and the Student Unit's annual On-Site Service Project benefited Habitat for Humanity, an organization well-known around the world for helping families build safe and affordable homes, for just that reason.
Led by 2017-2018 Student Unit Co-leaders Jill Vanderhoof of Iowa State University and Joshua Eddinger-Lucero of University of Central Arkansas (pictured l-r below), the Service Project, entitled "Collage for a Cause," proved to be a huge success, garnering donations in excess of $1,500 from Atlanta conference attendees and surpassing the original $500 goal (the amount of money it takes to paint a Habitat house).
Kimberly Spear, sponsorship manager at Habitat for Humanity of Atlanta, accepted the monetary gifts and paint chip collage that donors created at the Annual Conference Capstone luncheon on June 27th. She brought thanks from Habitat, and the collage now has a new home on the "Habi-Wall" at the Atlanta office.
