2018 Board on Human Sciences (BoHS) Spring Conference

Starts:  Mar 6, 2018 09:00 AM (ET)
Ends:  Mar 9, 2018 05:00 PM (ET)

In a world of perpetual media bombardment on virtually every topic, the increasingly negative perception of higher education in the United States among growing segments of the population, and the ever-present competition between disciplines within institutions, how do we in the Human Sciences amplify the critical nature of our field? What means do we have to bolster the Human Sciences unique ability to promote the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through an integration of various disciplines? The future of the field requires an innovative and strategic approach to promoting the relevancy of the profession as critical for the health and well-being of society.

Our institutions’ Development Officers are invited to attend as we explore the numerous avenues available to advocate for the field by highlighting strategies already undertaken as well as providing a road map for successful fundraising and development, alternative funding, marketing, and student recruitment efforts. There also will be a chance to learn about the opportunities offered to and challenges facing the Human Sciences community on the legislative front as the Second Session of the 115
th Congress gets underway to provide annual appropriations for Fiscal Year 2019 and reauthorize programs of interest in the re-authorization of the Farm Bill and other legislative proposals.
