Nomination Deadline AAFCS Board of Directors

The AAFCS Nomination Committee is thrilled to announce that we are now accepting nominations for open positions on our Board of Directors! This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact within our community and shape the future of family and consumer sciences.

We invite passionate and dedicated individuals to consider joining our leadership team. Board members play a vital role in guiding our organization, driving initiatives, and advocating for the advancement of our profession.

The AAFCS Nominating Committee is looking for AAFCS Board candidates who:
• Can support the AAFCS as it innovates and modernizes.
• Wants to use their leadership abilities to build a strong future for AAFCS.
• Has a deep commitment to the FCS profession and community.
• Brings a diversity of thoughts and ideas to the organization. 

There are THREE open positions on the Board for the 2025-2028 term.
- TWO Directors at Large- ONE President Elect
The President Elect will mentor under the 2025-2026 President, Cara Simmons, to prepare them to take on the role of President. The President Elect serves one year as President Elect (2025-2026), one year as President (2026-2027), and one year as Past President (2027-2028).

All nominees will be considered for Director at Large and President Elect positions with the best candidates for each being selected by the nominating committee to put forward for vote - please only nominate if you are willing to serve for 3 years and attend all Board meetings (virtual bi-monthly and two in person meetings at the June Annual Conference and September Leadership Summit). 

Members who have previously served one term as a Director at Large, are eligible to apply for a second term as either a Director at Large or President Elect. Members who have previously served as an Officer or two terms as a Director at Large, are ineligible. 

To submit your Nomination:
1.)  Nominate others - If you know someone you believe fits the criteria and would like them to be sent application information.  Your name will be kept confidential when your nominee receives the opportunity to submit an application.
2.)  Self nominate - You can also self-nominate to express your interest in being considered.  Upon completion of the nomination survey, you will receive an application.
