World Home Economics Day 2023
Theme: Waste Literacy
IFHE-US is celebrating World Home Economics Day with a special professional development event. The world's enormous waste problem won't be "solved" by just dumping it. We need to come up with better ideas to minimize waste generation and preserve natural resources. Waste Literacy, the knowledge about waste reduction and sustainable consumption, is an essential building block to achieve a sustainable future.
During the ZOOM event, Dr Helen McGuire (from Ireland) will share information from her Ph.D. research on Clothing Wardrobes (a list of clothing you own to guide purchases). Dr. Sheri Dragoo (from Texas), Baylor University Chair, will discuss what happens to recycled clothing after you give it away.
Finally, there will be a slide show of a collection of upcycling ideas. You can copy and paste your creations, adding information about what you have made to the slide that is linked HERE. Return the slide to Kim Kamin. There is no cost for the webinar, and all are welcome to attend.
