About the Session:
Struggling with all the information to create a safe classroom as you navigate changes and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic? A panel of FCS professionals including State Administrators, FCCLA State Advisers, and Teacher Educators will share their collaborative document that has organized resources into a comprehensive guide to re-opening safe and effective FCS programs. Useful resources will be shared for the in-person, hybrid, or virtual FCS classroom.

Alyson McIntyre-Reiger, MS, CFCS
Director for Advancing Connections, State Adviser for Indiana FCCLA, State Coordinator for Indiana ProStart
Alyson McIntyre-Reiger is a Family and Consumer Sciences professional who has a passion for FCCLA and Family and Consumer Sciences. Alyson has served as a classroom FCS teacher and FCCLA Adviser. Alyson left the classroom to work as the Indiana State Program Leader in Family and Consumer Sciences and Work Based Learning. In that position, Alyson served Indiana FCCLA in multiple capacities. She was elected to represent the National Association of State Administrators of FCS on the FCCLA National Board of Directors and served as Chair of the National Board of Directors in 2017-2018. Alyson had the opportunity to actualize her passion for FCCLA when she became the Indiana FCCLA State Adviser. She is currently representing state administrators and state advisers as the president of LEAD FCS, the national organization for FCS Education leaders. She cites one of her biggest accomplishments as helping to coordinate the FCS National Standards Project and leading the implementation of the FCS National Standards 3.0 across the nation.
Jean Kelleher, MS.Ed, CFCS
Division Manager of Program Standards & Quality Assurances, Bureau of Career & Technical Education, Pennsylvania Department of Education.
In her position Jean oversees program specialists and FCS education along with oversight for the Career and Technical student organizations. She has experience in the food manufacturing business, accounting and human resources and also as an entrepreneur, owning her own business in the bridal industry. Jean graduated from Alvernia College with a major in Personnel Management; Business Management/Banking & Finance. She then went on to continue her education and change jobs to become a certified Family and Consumer Sciences teacher from Immaculata College and Temple University earning her Masters of Education and Director Certification for Career and Technical Education. Jean participated in The Education and Leadership Center on advocacy and held a director position on the FCCLA national board for many years and has also served as a school board director. Jean is also holds membership in AAFCS and ACTE.
Kristen Vest, MS
Career Field Specialist for Family and Consumer Sciences and FCCLA State Adviser, Nebraska Department of Education
Kristin is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has ten years of secondary classroom experience teaching Family and Consumer Sciences. She currently provides program leadership, programs of study and curriculum support to Family and Consumer Sciences teachers in over 275 secondary FCS programs across Nebraska. Kristin currently serves as the Past-President for LEAD FCS Education.
Janine Duncan, PhD, CFCS
Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Kansas State University
Janine is an Assistant Professor in Family & Consumer Sciences Education, in the College of Education at Kansas State University, and is the Career and Technical Education Coordinator. She teaches undergraduate courses in FCS Methods, CTE, and Foundations of Education; she on the graduate faculty in the College of Education. Her scholarship focuses around FCS Education, including foundations, status of FCS Education, and critical instruction, to better understand opportunities and challenges impacting FCS Education.
