Every year 30-40 schools Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) teaching positions go unfilled in Iowa, potentially locking the FCS classroom door until someone can be hired. The FCS Career Leaders program is hoping to encourage students and career changing adults to consider a career in an FCS field.
The Iowa Affiliate of AAFCS is creating an Iowa FCS Career Leaders Program. This program would highlight many amazing FCS jobs that are available. FCS professionals in all related areas are asked to complete a one-two page questionnaire about their FCS career. Professionals in all FCS areas are encouraged to participate.

Creating a website for this information is the plan. Making the site available to middle and high school FCS teachers and school counselors, highlighting potential FCS careers available and to encourage students to seriously consider majoring in and selecting FCS careers for their future.
