ATD Juried Showcase: Call for Entries

AAFCS is now accepting entries for the 2024 Juried Showcase to be held as part of the 2024 AAFCS Annual Conference.  Submit a publishable abstract and photos to showcase your best work in apparel design/clothing & wearable textile art, art & design/fiber/non-fiber, interior design/housing & textile art, and other creative areas. If selected, you will make an oral presentation and exhibit your work during the conference. Members and Nonmembers may submit. 

Submission of an entry, or entries, indicates that submitter(s) or sponsoring AAFCS member agree(s) to register for the conference and make a presentation of the accepted work.

Entries are being accepted in the categories of:

  • Apparel, Design & Clothing
  • Wearable Textile Art
  • Interior Textile Art

Entries are evaluated/scored (1 = Poor to 5 = Excellent) using the following criteria:

  • Abstract provides a clear statement of inspiration.
  • Abstract provides a clear understanding of the piece.
  • Design is innovative.
  • Design presents new information or techniques.
  • Design is unique.


All files must be labeled with the designer's name and the name of the piece (Example:  Doe_John_Design_Name)

Abstract:

  • Maximum of 300 words
  • Include title of piece, purpose, processes, techniques and materials.
  • Formatted in Times New Roman (12 point font)
  • Submitted via the Entry Template

Photos:
Submit three (3) separate digital photos (jpg): front view, back view, and designer’s choice. Photographs must be individual files in JPEG formant, less than 1MB image size (file size). Each canvas size (actual image size if printed) should be approximately 4” x 6”.

Release Forms:
Click the link to download and complete the forms.  The forms will be uploaded into the application portal.

Entry Template: 
Submit the appropriate PowerPoint Template.  Click the link to download the template.  Photos and abstract will be inserted into the template.  The template will be uploaded into the application portal.

    Once the application is submitted, the applicant will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to pay the entry fee via credit card.  Entries that are not submitted according to the guidelines above will not be considered for the juried showcase.

    Entry Fees: 
    Pay the applicable entry fee. The application will not be considered complete until the fee is paid. 

    • Professional: AAFCS Member $25; NonMember $35
    • Graduate Student: $15
    • Undergraduate Student: $15

    Once the application is submitted, the applicant will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to pay the entry fee via credit card.

    Jurors will work with the Community of Apparel, Textiles, and Design (ATD) to review and score submissions for the ATD Juried Showcase held in conjunction with the 2024 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN.  Jurors can be members or nonmembers. 

    Juror Responsibilities:
    • Agree to review 5-7 submissions between March 4-11, 2024.
    • Identify the categories that you are willing to review/score.
    • Complete scoring rubric for each submission by March 11, 2024.

    The juror application deadline is Friday, February 9. Juror notifications will be sent via email by February 16.
