Texas Affiliate Named a Top 3 Advocacy Leader

The Texas Affiliate has been recognized as one of the top three performing affiliates in the nation for our work with the AAFCS Advocacy Grant.

Our affiliate’s advocacy reports were recently evaluated by the AAFCS Grantmaking Committee, and our collective efforts and impact within the state have been officially celebrated by our peers.

What This Means for Texas

This honor isn’t just a title—it’s an invitation to the national stage. As a result of this achievement:

  • National Recognition: Texas has been identified as a model for effective advocacy and outreach.
  • Conference Showcase: Our affiliate representatives will participate in a special panel presentation at the 2026 AAFCS Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
  • Knowledge Sharing: We will have the opportunity to share our strategies and success stories with FCS professionals from across the country.

Three Texas Affiliate Members Selected for the 2025 AAFCS Leadership Academy

Mr. Blake Mudd, University of Houston, Mrs. Sydney Cox of Texas Tech University, and Mrs. Elena Doerrie, AAFCS-TX Executive Director, have been selected to take part in the 2025 AAFCS Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy is an organized effort to assure that a professional cohort of potential new leaders will be able to assume leadership positions in committees, communities, councils, and as elected officers nationally or at the affiliate level in AAFCS.
