About the Module

Introducing ethics into the middle school classroom can be a valuable and important addition to the curriculum. Here are several reasons why: Moral Development, Character Building, Critical Thinking Skills, Empathy and Tolerance, When introducing ethics into the middle school classroom, it is important to create a safe and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their opinions. Facilitate open discussions, use case studies and real-life examples, and encourage students to think critically and respectfully challenge each other's viewpoints. Additionally, providing clear ethical frameworks and guidelines can help students understand the principles underlying ethical decision-making. Ethics is a complex and evolving field, so it's essential to approach it with sensitivity and respect for diverse perspectives. Providing guidance and support to both students and teachers in navigating ethical discussions is crucial to ensure a productive and positive learning experience.


As a result of attending this sessions, participants will be able to:

  1. recognize and identify ethical issues in various contexts;
  2. Identify how ethics education can be integrated and used to support a variety of academic subjects;
  3. download the FREE curriculum into their classrooms and help students learn how to be ethical human beings;

Meet the Presenter

Tonya Stutzman

Tonya Stutzman is a wife, a mother, former health care provider, and teacher. She has been at Central Middle School in the Millard, NE school district for 10 years as a Family and Consumer Science Teacher! Education is her second career. Health care and being a stay at home mom were her first careers! She absolutely loves teaching the next generation. Tonya is very active in her role as a teacher. She is the FCS Club leader, Garden Club Leader, Cross Country Coach, Spririt Crew leader, Washington D.C. trip leader for the 8th graders, Synergy trainer to staff, Staff Wellness Coordinator, Peer Mentor for staff, Success Mentor for students, and MEA Building Representative. In addition, Ms. Stutzman works as a Member Organizer for the NSEA and is a Trainer of Trainers. Finally, Tonya recently discovered a passion in finding the beauty of teaching ethics to middle schoolers through MBA Research. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 4 kids ranging in age from 15-24, her Pit Bull and Cane Corso and her husband Durea. She also is a Firearms Instructor teaching CCW and Basic Pistol classes. Tonya also loves to travel for pleasure whenever she has a chance, and does travel a lot for sports with her daughter who plays AAA Girls hockey and lacrosse. There is never a dull moment in Ms. Stutzman’s life.
