AAFCS Installs the 2023 –2024 Board of Directors

Alexandria, Va. The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) is pleased to announce the 2023 –2024 Board of Directors that were sworn in on June 26, 2023 during the AAFCS Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.  Debra K. Andres, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent with the Kansas State University Research and Extension in Geary County, was installed as President.  Heather Whaley, CFCS, Associate Provost, Dean and Professor at Carson Newman in Tennessee, was installed as Treasurer. 

The following professionals will serve as Directors-at-Large:

·         Michael Holman, FCS Educator at Granville Central High School in North Carolina;

·         Margaret Jenkins, Assistant Professor/FCS Extension Educator for The Ohio State University Department of Extension, Clermont County in Ohio;

·         Sharon Pate, Consultant with Management and Marketing Directions in Florida;

·         Martha Ravola, Associate Professor at Alcorn State University in Mississippi; and

·         Meeshay Williams-Wheeler, Associate Professor, Child Development and Family Studies at North Carolina A & T State University.

Lorna Wounded Head, CFCS, CPFFE, will serve ex-officio as Immediate Past President and Counselor. 

“Officers and members of the Board of Directors are leaders in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences who are ready to advance the association’s mission and work collaboratively to implement the 2023 – 2025 Strategic Plan,” shared Lori Myers, CFCS, AAFCS Interim Executive Director.  “Our Board is well-positioned to elevate the FCS profession and to achieve success during their term of office.”
