McIntyre-Reiger Receives National Leader Award

Alexandria, Va. – August 21, 2018
 — The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) honored its Leader Award recipients at a ceremony during the 109th Annual Conference & Expo in Atlanta, Georgia on June 26, 2018.  Among those selected for the prestigious award is State Program Leader Alyson McIntyre-Reiger, CFCS, Family and Consumer Sciences and Work Based Learning, Indiana Department of Education, Fountaintown, Indiana.

Established at the association’s 75th anniversary observance in 1984, the AAFCS Leader Award honors family and consumer sciences professionals who have made significant contributions to the profession through their national leadership in AAFCS.

Through her numerous accolades and professional endeavors, McIntyre-Reiger has demonstrated her commitment to family and consumer sciences. In her current role, she supports and provides resources for family and consumer sciences and work-based learning initiatives and teachers, oversees revisions and modifications of educational standards, manages area-specific professional development activities, and more. Additionally, McIntyre-Reiger serves as the Indiana Department of Education liaison to Indiana Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Indiana State Prostart coordinator, 2017-2018 National FCCLA Board of Directors chair, and the National Association of State Administrators of Family and Consumer Sciences (NASAFACS) National Standards 3rd Edition Revision Project Coordinator.

McIntyre-Reiger is also involved in AAFCS at the local, state, and national levels where she has served as the Indiana Affiliate president, the National Nominating Committee chair, and more. She has also been honored as the Indiana Affiliate Leader in Family and Consumer Sciences, AAFCS and Indiana Affiliate New Achiever, Indiana Association for Career and Technical Education Award of Merit recipient, and as the Indiana FCCLA Spirit of Advising Award recipient.
