  • 2021 Leadership Academy Announcement!

The Community for Building Leadership Capacity in AAFCS is pleased to announce the 2021 AAFCS Leadership Academy for new professionals (BS degree or greater with up to 7 years membership in AAFCS) who wish to design their own leadership plan in order to secure their preferred future as leaders in AAFCS.

We need your help in publicizing the Academy as well as supporting those who are selected from your affiliate.  Please encourage your members who are new (7 years or less as of October 1, 2020) members to apply to be a part of this wonderful opportunity. (You may also fit into this category; if so consider applying.)  Even though the application isn’t due for participants until October 1, 2020, individuals are already talking about this opportunity.

Those who are selected for the Academy will be involved in face-to-face sessions prior to the AAFCS Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 24-25, 2021.

Activities of the Academy will continue throughout the following year with networking and working on affiliate and national projects as well as implementing leadership strategies learned.

Participants of the Academy are also required to register and participate in the total 2021 AAFCS Annual Conference.  Even though they will receive a small discount on their registration, and the cost of the Academy is paid for through funds provided by AAFCS and donations from members, they will need the support of their affiliate to cover some of their expenses, since hotel, travel and food expenses during the Annual conference are not covered.  We hope your affiliate is willing to help any of your members who are selected for the academy

Detailed information about the Academy can be found on the AAFCS web site under “Who We Are”  at http://www.aafcs.org/about/groups/leadership-academy including a flyer that you can distribute and applications for prospective participants and mentors (flyer also attached).

We are also looking for mentors who will meet with their mentee during the 2021 Annual Conference.  Mentors do not attend the Academy itself but are crucial to the success of the participant through their networking with their mentee at the Annual Conference and during the following year.
