Bio

Virginia Vincenti, PhD, CFCS, Professor Emeritus of Human Development and Family Sciences, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, University of Wyoming, formerly on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she was program director of Home Economics Education. She received her PhD from The Pennsylvania State University, College of Education with minor in Individual and Family Studies and an emphasis on history and philosophy. Much of her scholarship has focused on the history and philosophy of home economics/family & consumer sciences. She has published numerous articles and an edited book, Rethinking Home Economics. Since 2011 she has been researching family perpetrated elder financial exploitation as part of an ongoing USDA-NIFA multi-state research project studying risk and protective factors within families to prevent elder financial exploitation by relatives appointed as POA agents with the objective of prevention. She has published this research and presented at professional conferences and a elder law retreat, webinars for professionals and federal employees, and community groups.
