About the Module


How well do you know your oven? View the on-demand recording to explore how an oven maintains temperatures, why your oven thermometer may not be accurate and what features to look for in a smart appliance.

Presenters will discuss:

  1. Why oven thermometers may not accurately reflect oven temps.
  2. The difference in a 2 point oven profile versus a PID profile (and what that means)
  3. Recommendations for what to cook on all modes of your ovens.
  4. Smart modes and features appliances.

Meet the Presenter(s)

Misty Hughes



Misty Vinson Hughes, CFCS, has been an active member of AAFCS since 2012.  She is a graduate of Carson-Newman University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics.  Hughes is currently employed with BSH Home Appliances in Jacksboro, Tennessee, where she serves as the Consumer Centricity Module Leader.   During her time in AAFCS, she has served as the state affiliate president and attended the 2015 AAFCS Leadership Academy in Jacksonville, Florida.  She is also a full time mother to two year old, Lilly Quinn and six cats!

Henri Creech joined Misty’s team at BSH Home Appliances as a Consumer Scientist in November 2020.  In his role he focuses on ways to improve consumer experiences with cooking appliances as well as effectively capturing user experience, improved understanding of Consumer Reports testing methodologies, and assisting in development of smart cooking apps.  Other than a passion for implementing strategies that cater to improving the lives of the BSH consumer, Henri enjoys hiking, camping and listening to and attending live music.
