The role of the Student Unit is to provide for and to promote the professional development of post-secondary students of family and consumer sciences or related subjects who are individual members of the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences.

Each AAFCS Student member is a member of the student unit. 

“Student” is defined as any individual seeking a degree in a postsecondary program through the pursuit of FCS-related coursework. Part-time or full-time students are eligible.

2026 Student Unit Service Project

In 2026, the AAFCS student unit officers developed a resource page focused on consumer safety which included physical resources such as curriculum, flyers, and leaflets, and digital resources including videos, webpages, newsletters, and more.
