Advocacy Initiatives & Impacts

Family & Consumer Sciences Day

Started in 2014, this national initiative, led by the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), educates families about the importance and benefits of preparing and eating healthy meals together. Families are asked to commit to "dine in" on December 3rd, the birthday of AAFCS founder Ellen Richards.

"Say Yes to FCS" Educator Recruitment Initiative

The "Say Yes to FCS: Filling the FCS Educator Pipeline" campaign, led by AAFCS, is designed to support and advance existing family and consumer sciences educator recruitment initiatives and provide models and assistance for new efforts. The campaign established National Family & Consumer Sciences Educator Day on May 4.

FCSfit is an AAFCS Signature Initiative spanning three years that is focused on setting small, realistic goals and delivering resources and community support to our membership and our supporters as they "model the mission" of AAFCS, and make informed decisions about their own well-being, relationships, and resources with the goal of achieving an optimal quality of life. Let's get FCSfit!
