FCSRJ Best Paper and Outstanding Paper Awards

FCSRJ Best Paper and Outstanding Paper Awards

The purpose of the FCSRJ Best Paper and Outstanding Paper Awards is to recognize the Best Papers that were published during the previous year in the Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal in the various disciplines of family and consumer sciences. The awards were established in 2009.

The selection procedure is as follows:

  • At the end of each calendar year, the Editor compiles a list of all of the articles published in the four issues of the FCSRJ.
  • Then the Editor sorts the papers by discipline and asks the Associate Editor (AE) to select the Best Paper in his or her discipline. The criteria are: the research topic should be original, the research design and methodology should reflect high standards, and the article should have the potential to make a lasting contribution to family and consumer sciences.
  • After the Best Paper Awards have been selected, the Editor will ask another committee consisting of Editorial Board members to select one article as the FCSRJ Outstanding Paper for the year. The Selection Committee is asked to consider the same criteria as described above.

Then the Editor will invite the Best Paper and Outstanding Paper award winners to attend the Annual Conference of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and to present a summary of his or her article.

The Outstanding Paper Award winner will receive a plaque and a monetary award. Additionally, winner will receive a complimentary one-day registration to attend the AAFCS Annual Conference and present the article.
