Meal Master Monday emphasizes the importance of culinary skills, nutrition, and the impact of food choices on overall health. This day encourages individuals to explore easy meal prep, discover balanced eating habits, and understand how cooking at home can contribute to a healthier lifestyle. The goal is to equip everyone with the tools needed to make informed, nutritious decisions in the kitchen.

  • Share quick and easy recipes on social media and around your space -- Use our AAFCS recipe cards!
  • Host a Recipe Exchange: Set up a board or online space where students or staff share their favorite healthy recipes 
  • Organize a “Build Your Own Balanced Menu” activity -- Use this worksheet!
  • Healthy Cooking Demo: Have students or staff demonstrate simple, healthy recipes like smoothies, wraps, or energy bowls 
  • Smoothie Bar or Tasting Station: Set up a tasting station with various fruits and veggies, and let students create their own custom smoothies! 
  • Cook-off Challenge: Host a quick, fun competition to create the healthiest dish using ingredients available 

Textile Takeover Tuesday celebrates the art of fashion and interior design, textile creativity, and self-expression. This day encourages individuals to explore sustainable fashion, experiment with textile arts, and learn about the importance of creativity in personal style. It emphasizes how fashion can be both a form of personal expression and a means of promoting environmental consciousness and creativity in everyday life.

  • Participate in the AAFCS T-Shirt Design Contest: download template, create your shirt, email your design
  • Sustainable fashion showcase or thrift challenge 
  • DIY textile art or upcycling workshop 
  • Dress in your favorite decade or DIY outfit day
  • DIY Fashion Showcase: Students wear or display something they made or upcycled
  • Sewing Demo or Speed Challenge: Host a fun stitching race or simple craft (scrunchies, keychains, etc.) 
  • Design Your Dream Fit: Have students sketch or collage their own outfit designs 

Wellness Wednesday focuses on promoting mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It highlights the importance of self-care routines, stress management, and mindfulness practices. It’s a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. This day encourages all to practice mindfulness, self-care routines, and stress relief techniques that can help balance people's busy lives.

  • Guided mindfulness sessions -- Online hosted link 
  • Stress-relief stations with journaling prompts 
  • Mindfulness Minute during announcements to start the day 
  • Cozy dress code (hoodies, fuzzy socks, etc.) 
  • DIY Self-Care Kits: Set up stations where students can create their own stress balls, essential oil rollers, or calming jars 

  • Group Zumba or other exercise class 
  • Yoga or Stretching Session: Hold a group stretch or basic yoga class to promote physical and mental relaxation  
  • Gratitude Wall: Set up a bulletin board where students can anonymously write what they are grateful for 
  • Practice Thankfulness: Write 'Thank You' cards to those who have made a positive impact -- Use AAFCS Thank You cards!
  • Celebrate 70 years of the Green Bean Casserole and share a meal with friends - or support Phi Upsilon Omicron in funding student research grants and order a shirt!

Cents & Sensibility Thursday highlights the importance of financial literacy in managing personal finances, budgeting effectively, and making informed spending choices. This day encourages individuals to develop practical financial skills that will help them navigate financial challenges and make informed decisions. It fosters a deeper understanding of how to manage money sensibly for both short-term goals and long-term financial security. 

  • Try Jump$tart Reality Check - See how much you need to earn to live the adult life you imagine
  • Future Career Fit Day: Dress as your dream job, then explore average salaries and budgets 
  • “What’s It Really Cost?” Game: Show items and have students guess prices 
  • Mini Finance Workshop: Cover topics like credit cards, saving, or “adulting hacks” in homeroom or short lessons (Explore topics here)

Future-Ready Friday is designed to prepare individuals for their personal and professional futures by emphasizing the development of practical life skills, career exploration, and long-term goal setting. This day encourages proactive thinking about one’s future, whether it’s through building professional skills, learning to navigate real-world responsibilities, or planning for future success. 

  • Resume-building or interview skills workshop
  • Write thank-you cards to family or mentors
  • Create a “What I’ve Learned from FCS” board 
  • Goal Setting Session: Have students write down or share their short-term and long-term goals with the class - Goal Setting Worksheet
  • “Dream Job” Panel: Invite professionals from different fields to talk about their careers and what it takes to success
  • Life Skills Stations: Set up mini-workshops where students can learn practical skills like resume writing, budgeting, and interview tips
