Bring the FCS Body of Knowledge to Life: Apply for the BOK Resource Network

Family and Consumer Sciences educators are invited to play a leading role in shaping the future of our profession through the FCS Body of Knowledge (BOK) Resource Network—an exciting, paid opportunity to develop innovative instructional tools that will support educators and learners across the country. This initiative, Advancing the Body of Knowledge through Innovative and Effective Instructional Resources and Tools, is designed to transform the revised BOK into meaningful, practical resources that can be used in real-world educational settings (middle school, high school, university, and community).

What Is the BOK Resource Network?

AAFCS will select 6 FCS professionals to serve on a collaborative network dedicated to developing high-quality instructional materials aligned with the BOK. Selected participants will review and engage deeply with the revised Body of Knowledge and then collaborate in teams to develop instructional resources, such as

    • Lesson plans
    • Instructional strategies
    • Assignments and teaching resources
    • Assessments

The resources will be peer reviewed and then published in the Think FCS Library.  Network members will design and deliver a 3-part professional development series (BOK Talks), which will be recorded and shared for on-demand learning.

Why Apply?

This opportunity allows you to:

  • Contribute to a nationally recognized FCS initiative
  • Collaborate with fellow professionals and thought leaders
  • Develop and share innovative teaching tools
  • Build your professional portfolio and leadership experience
  • Receive a $2,500 stipend for your contributions (Note: Participants will receive a 1099 tax document.)
